Kleine olifant, 2024

Gemengde technieken, textiel, band en metalen onderstel, 45 x 40 x 28cm.

Olifanten zijn terugkerende dieren in mijn werk variërend van formaat en stoffen gebruikt voor de huid. In het eerste en grootste werk, een samenstelling van 5 olifanten van meer dan 3 meter, staan ze symbool voor familie en de verschuiving van levensfases en rollen die in deze groep zichtbaar worden; van kind naar ouder bv. In dit werk, kleine olifant, rust een jong dier op het onderstel van een kinderstoel. Het roerloze liggen, rusten herinnert me aan de moed van overgave die jongeren tonen.

Small elephant, 2024

Elephants are recurring animals in my work varying in size and fabrics used for the skin. In the first and largest work, a composition of 5 elephants of more than 3 meters, symbolizes family and the shifting of life phases and roles that become visible in this group; from child to parent for example. In this work, small elephant, a young animal rests on the base of a child’s chair. The motionless lying of resting reminds me of the courage of surrender that young people show.
